My working life has spanned over 16 years – working in the Advertising Industry for most of it, before moving into Investment Banking. Both jobs required me to sit in front of a PC every day! As a teenager I recall saying to myself that I would never work in front of a computer, and that I would be outdoors working with people – and then as it does, life had other ideas – but as life moves you in a direction you weren’t quite planning, somehow you always seem to find your way back.
I grew up very active as a child – playing most sports at school. But from my late teens into my twenties, most of my time was focused on late nights at clubs, drugs, booze – as one does growing up bored and disillusioned.
Then, 8 years ago, our family got the most gut wrenching news – my beautiful brother, at the tender age of 16 was diagnosed with Cancer. It was a huge blow to our family, but my brother soldiered through the chemo & radiology without ever complaining or feeling sorry for himself – in fact, often, he would be the shoulder for the family to cry on instead of the other way around! He beat the cancer and is still cancer-free, living his life to the full as a Personal Trainer himself. To this day, my brother remains my true hero!
It was through my brother’s fight to survive, that I started taking my health seriously, and in turn started to do treks/run races to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. That is where I found my love of Fitness – and in turn, it became my obsession. Fitness saved my brother’s life and it saved mine. That is why I am so passionate now about helping people reach their full potential so that they too can find happiness and strength within themselves – emotionally and physically!
Sick of the corporate world, and desperate to get back to my dreams of working in the Fitness industry - outdoors and with people, I studied Adv. Personal Training part-time for a year in 2010-2011. As well as qualifying as a Level 3 PT – I also completed a diploma in Nutrition Advice. I am also a qualified Spin Instructor. More qualifications are to follow, including Sports Massage, Kettlebells, Yoga & Sports Management… so watch this space.
