There is a perception in Society, that fitness can only be achieved by a very small percent of “superhuman – athlete” types, or most women believe “fit” to be that stick-like model that can squeeze into a size zero dress! These misconceptions are wrong on every level! Fitness can be achieved by absolutely every single one of us – including you!
Fitness embodies a human being on so many deeper levels than mere physical strength or power. A person can be mentally fit, emotionally fit, spiritually fit as well as have a sense of wellbeing overall. Physical fitness is only a small piece of the that “Fit” pie.
The Oxford Dictionary agrees with me: Fit adj. (fitter, fittest) – well suited, suitable condition, qualified, competent, worthy, good enough, in good health, to be the right shape or size.
When I ask Clients exactly what they want to achieve through training, most will reply, “I want to be fit!” And my reply is “Fit, in what way?”
Exercising regularly is essential, not only to train muscle groups, break down fat cells, to prevent disease, and for most to drop that dress size for a special occasion/holiday. Exercise revitalises the soul! It gets the “happy hormones” doing flick flacks through our bloodstream. Admit it. After a massive session in the gym (as hideous as it can be at times), we walk away feeling damn good about ourselves!
And in this day and age, where life never stops for us, even for a moment. We need to make a concerted effort, to take a step back and remind ourselves that just for one hour, every day, our own mental, spiritual, physical fitness is all that matters! Whether it be a walk through a park, a yoga session, or a hardcore spin class, fitness is every part of who we are – in Mind, Body and Soul.
Live, Laugh, Love Fitness!
